Besides the persecution and annihilation of the Jewish community, the quest for Lebensraum was a pillar of the Nazis ideology. The march east, operation "Barbarossa" (1941), was essentially the final part of the geo-politics of the Third Reich. Historian Pierik takes readers into the world of ideas behind these politics, where cold blooded, rational elements go hand in hand with myths and radical beliefs.
Dr Perry Pierik obtained his doctorate on the geopolitics of Karl Haushofer and wrote dozens of books and articles on the Second World War. His best-known works include From Leningrad to Berlin, Hungary 1944-45 the forgotten tragedy, The Geopolitics of the Third Reich, Emperor Wilhelm II the abandoned monarch, Erich Ludendorff, biography, The Polish War and Brothers in Arms about the German-Romanian alliance.
