This book presents the Fundamentals of Psychology in a way that engages and excites students about human empowerment no matter what has led them to take the introductory course or what level of motivation they initially have. The book provides a wide, comprehensive introduction to the field of psychology, covering basic theories and research findings, as well as highlighting current applications outside the laboratory. This book includes extensive coverage of both traditional areas of human empowerment and applied topics, including motivation, emotion and personality. Some topics of positive psychology are incorporated. It also features application-oriented chapters such as intelligence, prosocial behaviour and happiness. This book has a combination of traditional core topics and contemporary applied subjects, providing a broad, current view of the field of psychology.
Chintamani Kar was Former Head-Department of Psychology, F. M. (Autonomous) College, Balasore (Odisha). He has also worked at G.M. College, Sambalpur; S.C.S. College, Puri; and Bhadrak College, Bhadrak. He has written textbooks in both English and Odia, which were recommended for higher secondary studies. He has contributed papers at the Science Congress and is currently working on a UGC Research Project.
