Born and bred in South London, Deborah moved to Brighton in 1986. Since the age of fifteen, she has worked as a barmaid, cleaner, zookeeper, adventure play leader, youth worker, primary teacher, childcare and Ofsted inspector, trainer, and senior lecturer in education. She holds a BA and MA in Film Studies from the Open University, where she also taught children’s literature. She has written and co-written six books on early years, focusing on equalities, LGBT issues, leadership, and grief and loss in children’s lives.
