The opening chapter of Issues in Education is a primer on existing STEM education policy issues and programs. Chapter 2 focuses on early observations on changes some states are making to their K-12 accountability systems in reaction to the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA). The benefits and risks of AI in classrooms, including the impact of AI on issues such as student data privacy, teacher preparation, and technology development and procurement are reviewed in chapter 3.
