(Post)Memories of Forced Migration
Participatory, Arts-based and Multisensory Approaches
How can forced migration be understood and represented through the arts? Bringing arts-based research into dialogue with approaches from the humanities and social sciences, the contributions explore refuge, mass violence, statelessness, expulsion, expropriation, and exile. They examine how displacement and diasporic transnational movements are reflected in artistic practices, drawing on a broad historical perspective and focusing particularly on the Middle East and the global diaspora communities shaped by forced migration. By bringing together diverse disciplines, forms of knowledge, and artistic methods, the volume highlights the potential of arts-based approaches for understanding the experiences and legacies of displacement.
