This volume includes five Chapters that detail advances in chemistry research. Chapter 1 examines the different catalysts for NOx, focusing on mechanisms and applications. Chapter 2 presents a report on synthesis, metal complexation and biological activities of thiosemicarbazones. Chapter 3 focuses on interactions between molecules, specifically involving macrocyclic receptors-crown ethers and amino acids in binary water-organic solvents. Chapter 4 examines the presence and ecotoxicological effects of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) and evaluates the efficacy of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for their degradation. Finally, Chapter 5 systematically examines fundamental photophysical mechanisms such as photoinduced electron transfer (PET), intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET), and aggregation-induced emission (AIE), highlighting their roles in generating turn-on, turn-off, and ratiometric fluorescence responses.
