The publication throws light on this process of nationalisation through a number of studies of various aspects of the history of civilisation: the meeting between Denmark and Germany in the border district, the use of the flag in Denmark, the so-called folk culture and its museums, a "national" style of building and the use of nationality in sports, tourism, marketing etc.
