Born in the small, northern community of Whitehorse, before the building of the Alaska Highway, Joyce Yardley’s childhood was full of friends, family and, most of the time, fun. In Yukon Tears and Laughter, she shares memories of that time as well as other episodes in her life. From her years as a wife and mother, working with her family ranching, mining and even trapping for fur to finally pulling up roots after a lifetime of living in the Yukon, Joyce’s reminiscences will appeal to readers of biographies and adventure, alike. Written in a spirited and genuine manner, the book details several journeys taken by Joyce and her husband Gordon during their retirement years. It also brings to light the hard times that follow as her husband’s health fails and Joyce becomes his primary caregiver. Readers will be touched as she shares her feelings and writings about the times of her life.
